Watson Statement on the War in Ukraine

In February, when the war broke out in Ukraine, we communicated with all current Watson Fellows overseas and in our New York City program. We shared our unequivocal stand against the hostility, and provided support. Many Watson Fellows were born in Ukraine and have family there. For over five decades fellows have traveled and lived in the region.

We continue to be disheartened by the violence, the human toll, and growing international impact. The health and safety of Watson Fellows is always our top priority, and we can confirm that there are no current fellows in Ukraine or Russia. In addition, our policies align with US Department of State Travel Advisories and Department of Treasury sanctions.

Thank you to everyone who has been in touch with us. Watson global partners are directly supporting those displaced by the violence. If you would like to lend your support we encourage you to consider donating to the Institute of International Education's (IIE) Emergency Student Fund and International Rescue Committee's (IRC) Ukraine Fund.

Sincerely, Chris
