Entrepreneurship as Development
South Korea,Indonesia,Brazil,Rwanda,Kenya
Entrepreneurship drives economic development. Entrepreneurs, as facilitators of economic development face a difficult task. This undertaking becomes more complicated when these enterprises are established in a developing country. However, many entrepreneurs take on that risk to contribute to their nation’s economic development. Who are these entrepreneurs? What motivates them to take on the risk of starting a business or venture? How are their entrepreneurial experiences shaped by the unique challenges of their nations? These three questions will guide my travels. Each country I will visit lies on a different end of the development spectrum but also has a vibrant entrepreneurial community. While in these countries, I will interview established business owners, intern with start-up organizations, and support nascent entrepreneurs in their registration process. My hope is to gain a multi-pronged understanding of entrepreneurship around the world through the perspective of the individuals who are driving the change.
