Snakebite and Medicine Across the Tropics
India, China, Thailand, Cameroon, Brazil
Snakebite envenoming is a global health threat impacting mainly poor, rural communities in tropical countries. Access to antivenoms is constrained by exorbitant prices, distance from clinics, and disinvestment in snakebite research. On my year, I will engage with community leaders, local clinics, traditional medics, antivenom producers, and NGOs to learn about successes and obstacles in the health response to snakebite envenoming.
