Building Foodways for Climate Refugees
Mexico, Thailand, Turkey, Spain, Germany, France
Climate migration is not an image of a far-off future. Many countries already receive refugees fleeing resource decline, severe weather, and political stressors spurred by climate change. In response, these countries host state programs, non-profits, and independent restaurants that use food to support and endorse migrant populations. My project explores how these projects use food-based programming to build supportive community structures for displaced people.
