Woven Together: Sustainability, Identity, & Connection through Fashion
Scotland, India, Tajikistan, Senegal, The Netherlands
Even before clothing was used as physical protection, our ancestors used body paint, animal hides, and shell beads as a means of personal expression. To this day, a garment is never just a garment. But the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions, 35% of microplastics polluting our waterways, and countless human rights tragedies. On my Watson year, I will explore how we reconcile our expressive needs with environmental and social impact.
