An African proverb states, “until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.” African history remains hidden under the cloak of Eurocentric history, which dominates classrooms. During my year, I will gain a deeper understanding of what truly decolonized education can look like, and witness its effects on communities.
