Change and Formation: Negotiating Identity in Currency Transitions
Brazil, Cuba, Spain, Zimbabwe
On the surface, currency is a means of exchange, establishing our relationship to the world through production and consumption. But beyond this, currency holds powerful symbols and imagery that tell stories about personal and national identity. On my Watson I will embed in countries that have recently undergone a currency transition, to explore what's at stake when identity is reshaped and redefined.
