Cultural Preservation Practices through Fashion
Indonesia, The United Kingdom, Brazil, Ghana, Mozambique
Fashion is an expression of identity that emerges from within a community. Much like social dances, traditional aesthetics are commonly understood and accepted by members of the group, but their origins often cannot be traced back to any one person. I'm interested in how people use fashion, or traditional attire of any kind, as a way of preserving culture, and as a platform through which culture gets transformed and spread.
