Concentrated Selves in Corporeal Mime
France, Canada, Spain, Japan, Italy, England, South Korea
Corporeal mime is an aspect of physical theatre with a rich history that enables the actor to show thought and feeling through movement. The challenge it poses is not to become something you are not, but to concentrate so much of yourself into your performance that you, the actor, are fully exposed. On my Watson year I will follow the practice, performance, and pedagogy of corporeal mime, and learn about its future as the first generation of practitioners retire and the art form is handed to the next.
